Aiming for Wellbeing and Positive Development in Education
Positive Education is explicitly addressing the individual and collective wellbeing in schools by promoting the psychological health and full development of children. "There is substantial evidence from well controlled studies that skills that increase resilience, positive emotion, engagement and meaning can be taught to schoolchildren" (*). Positive Psychology contributes by providing a theoretical and scientific framework to facilitate the integration of interventions and activities that effectively promote wellbeing, engagement and positive climate in the classroom and school. PositivitiES is a Comenius Multilateral European Project with the aim to help European teachers to learn, practise, apply and share experiences of Applied Positive Psychology in Education.
PositivitiES project approaches education using a holistic view, by creating opportunities to identify and develop character strengths of children, helping them to develop conscience of their own emotional states, contributing to their self-regulation skills, cultivating positive emotions, creating conditions for flow and optimal experience in the learning process, emphasizing the relevance of positive relationships and practicing skills to grow them, discovering the power of gratefulness and optimism.
